Opticians · Phnom Penh

Glasses in Phnom Penh cost almost nothing.

A full prescription pair — frames and lenses — runs $25–60 at most city-centre opticians. Eye tests are free. Quality international lens brands are available. This is one of the genuinely great deals available to expats in Phnom Penh.

The Honest Context
Glasses in Phnom Penh are absurdly cheap.

A standard prescription pair of glasses — frames plus lenses — runs $25–60 at most city-centre opticians. Rimless titanium frames with quality lenses can be had for $65. Transition lenses, progressive lenses, anti-glare coatings: all available, all at a fraction of what you would pay at home. Eye tests are free at most places.

The quality gap matters for complex prescriptions. Standard lenses (below ±4 dioptre) are cut on-site in an hour. More complex prescriptions — progressives, high-power lenses, specialist coatings — may be ordered from Japan or Germany (brands like Hoya and Essilor), with a turnaround of a few days to a week. For very unusual prescriptions, verify before committing.

Contact Lenses
Contacts are widely available and cheap.

Daily, monthly and extended-wear contact lenses are available at most optical chains in Phnom Penh, including EYE CARE Optic, Paris Optics and Owndays. Major international brands — Acuvue, Bausch & Lomb, Air Optix, Biofinity — are all stocked. Prices are significantly lower than in Europe or North America. A box of 30 daily lenses runs roughly $15–25 depending on brand and prescription strength.

If you wear a less common prescription or need toric lenses for astigmatism, stock availability narrows. Paris Optics has a licensed contact lens practitioner from Canada on site and is the most reliable place for specialist lens fitting and unusual prescriptions. EYE CARE Optic carries the broadest general stock across its chain.

Bring your lens prescription. Opticians here will generally sell contact lenses without a prescription, but for toric or multifocal lenses a proper fitting matters. If you have never been fitted for contacts or are changing lens type, ask for a fitting consultation rather than just ordering off your glasses prescription — the two measurements differ.
